What is the Severe Thunderstorm Threat for Today (4/26)?

SPC Severe Storm Forecast for Today, Friday, April 26th

A area of showers and thunderstorms will pass over the Ozarks this morning.

The severe weather threat is very low for this round although watch for the possibility of localized flash flooding as some of the downpours will be heavy and falling on ground which received a heavy dose of rain yesterday.

The severe threat will come from two sources today: 1) this same area of storms which may pick up strength far east of Springfield over south-central Missouri and 2) redevelopment of storms over or west of the area by late afternoon or evening.

The second threat is the more significant of the two with all modes of severe weather possible. (hail, wind, tornado).

Watch for a video update around noon today.

Also, severe thunderstorms are also a possibility on both Saturday and Sunday.
