The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has upgraded the chance for severe thunderstorms today to a slight risk.
A typical winter severe weather pattern is setting up today. A strong storm in the upper atmosphere coupled with the return of higher humidity values moving up into the Ozarks from the south will create an environment for severe storms.
The greatest threat is for damaging winds although an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out .
This type of pattern may initially favor a few isolated storms to start but in the end, a line of showers and storms will develop and move through southwest Missouri this evening.
