The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for the areas shaded in red below.
Overall, the situation hasn’t changed much since this morning.
A line of storms has formed running from eastern Kansas south into Oklahoma. This will need to be watched for areas of rotation developing within it.
The wind field is highly favorable for strong winds or even an isolated tornado. However, the instability of the atmosphere is not substantial.
I would expect the best combination of these two ingredients will occur over extreme southern Missouri or northern Arkansas over the course of the evening.
