Upper Level Flow Forecast for Monday

As of yesterday, Springfield has recorded eight one hundred degree days this summer.  We will be very close to that mark today and tomorrow. Hitting it at least a few times between now and the middle of next week is probable!

Last summer we had total of fifteen, most of them in the second half of the summer!

There is no reliable end in sight to the heat.  The very weak front this came through is only shaving a few degrees off of our high temperatures today and Saturday.

If anything, the center of the heat looks to be shifting right over the Ozarks by early next week.

There is a brief glimpse of some isolated showers as we will be on the edge of a westward moving upper-level disturbance Sunday through Tuesday. Not much but something anyway!

So this weekend, look for highs right around 100°. One difference between this heat wave and the one earlier in the summer is the overnight lows are warmer. Springfield only dropped to 77 degrees Thursday morning and around 72 this morning.

Here are the latest advisories for heat. The Heat Advisory for the Ozarks is through Sunday but many of the others surrounding us are through early next week:
