Lots of heavy rain for areas northwest of Springfield!
Flash Flood Warnings are in effect for Vernon, St. Clair and northern Cedar Counties in Missouri. The heavy rain and threats of repeated storm tracks over this area will result in flash flooding. National Weather Service evaluation of the flash flooding potential suggests 3-5″ rain totals in and close to this area during the overnight hours.
There is also still a severe storm threat. This is largely unchanged. A few supercells within the heavy rain line could produce hail up to quarter size and a few severe wind gusts. One bowing line segment out near Parsons, KS at 11 pm may pose the next threat for severe weather along the highway 71 corridor during the midnight hour. 70 mph winds were reported near Parsons with these storms.
